The Planning Board is responsible for guiding the physical development and growth of the municipality. Its key functions include creating and maintaining the town's Master Plan, which serves as a long-range vision for the community, and developing and recommending changes to the Zoning Ordinance. The Planning Board also has regulatory authority over subdivisions of land and site plans for commercial development.
The Easton Planning Board normally meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at 5 PM, but may reschedule for holidays.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) is responsible for hearing and deciding appeals related to the enforcement of the zoning ordinance. The ZBA also hears appeals of administrative decisions made by the zoning enforcement officer. Its primary role is to provide a safety valve for the zoning ordinance, ensuring fairness and flexibility in its application while upholding its overall intent.
The Trustees of the Trust Funds serve as the fiduciary custodians of Easton’s public funds, capital reserves, and private donations. Operating under New Hampshire statutory authority, the Trustees are responsible for prudently investing and managing these accounts to maximize returns while preserving principal. Their primary role is to ensure that public monies earmarked for future capital projects, town maintenance, and specific trust intents are securely held and disbursed in strict compliance with town meeting votes and state law.
